4. Data Storage & Security
Protecting your data is a top priority. We employ multiple layers of security to ensure your personal and health information remains safe.
4.1 Local Storage
The majority of your data is stored directly on your device:
- All health records, medicine data, and prescriptions are stored locally using encrypted storage
- Sensitive information such as authentication tokens and profile credentials are stored using platform-secure storage (Android Keystore)
- Local data remains on your device even without an internet connection, ensuring uninterrupted access
4.2 Cloud Storage
If you enable cloud sync, your data is additionally backed up to the cloud:
- Cloud data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), a trusted enterprise-grade platform
- Firebase provides encryption at rest (AES-256) and encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+)
- Cloud sync ensures your data is preserved if you switch devices, reinstall the App, or need to recover your account
- You can disable cloud sync at any time from within the App settings
4.3 Security Measures
We implement industry-standard security practices:
- All network communication between the App and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Authentication is handled via Firebase Authentication with secure token management
- We do not store passwords directly — all authentication is managed through secure third-party providers (Google Sign-In)
- Access to cloud data is restricted through Firebase Security Rules that ensure users can only access their own data
- We regularly review our security practices and update them as needed
5. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with the following trusted third-party services to provide its core functionality:
| Service | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase (Google) | Authentication, cloud database (Firestore), push notifications (FCM) | Google Privacy Policy |
| Google Play Services | App distribution, in-app updates, crash reporting | Google Privacy Policy |
We carefully select our third-party service providers and only work with those that maintain high standards of data protection. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or health data with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
These third-party services may collect certain information as described in their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review their policies to understand how they handle your data.
6. Data Retention
We believe in giving you full control over your data. Our data retention practices are as follows:
- Your data is retained as long as you maintain an active account with the App
- You can delete individual records (medicines, prescriptions, purchases, goals) at any time from within the App — deleted records are permanently removed
- Upon account deletion, all associated data is removed from our cloud storage within 30 days
- Local data is removed when you uninstall the App or clear the app data through your device settings
- Anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (which cannot identify you) may be retained for analytics purposes
- We do not retain backups of deleted data beyond the 30-day account deletion window
7. Your Rights
We respect your privacy rights and provide you with meaningful control over your personal data. You have the right to:
- Access — View all personal data stored in the App through your profile and records
- Modify — Edit your profile information and health records at any time
- Delete — Remove individual records or delete your entire account and all associated data

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will promptly delete that information from our systems.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately at [email protected] so we can take appropriate action.
Users between the ages of 13 and 18 should review this Privacy Policy with a parent or guardian before using the App.
9. International Data Transfers
Our cloud services (Google Firebase) may store and process your data in data centers located outside your country of residence. By using the App with cloud sync enabled, you consent to the transfer of your information to these facilities.
Google Firebase complies with internationally recognized data protection frameworks and maintains appropriate safeguards for cross-border data transfers. For more information, refer to Firebase's privacy documentation.
10. Cookies and Tracking
The Medi Reminder mobile application does not use cookies. However, our website (if applicable) may use essential cookies for basic functionality such as remembering your theme preference.
We do not use any third-party tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies. We do not participate in behavioral advertising or cross-site tracking.
